In the first meet of the 2026 Indoor Mile Series, we saw the return of familiar faces and rivalries, and a Series record was smashed by a runner returning from a long hiatus. More on that below.

In the first heat, several girls from the Penn State Cross-Country Club joined the mix. Karis Blagden ran away with the victory finishing in 5:54.25. Daniel Innocente was second in 5:59.73, and Scarlet Davies took third in 6:12.02.

The second heat stepped up the speeds a notch. Roman Chapman ran a strong sub-5 mile, finishing first in 4:51.49. Nick Holouka was second in 4:55.92, and Dylan Holliday took third in 5:04.82. Kalyn Coffey ran a very fast time to all lead female runners up to that point. She finished fourth in 5:05.25. And Carly Shea, the Series Masters Record holder, ran 5:39.18. But all of those female leads and records got overturned in the next heat.

In the third heat, long time series competitor Vince Fadale led until the bell lap, when he was overtaken by Nathan Allen, who had a tremendous kick tofinish in 4:30.70. Joshua Walters was second in 4:32.46, and Vince Fadale took third in 4:34.99. But the big story was Allie Guillard nee Martin. Allie last ran an Indoor Mile 8 years ago and ran a very fast sub-5 time hoping to capture the Club women's record. Unfortunately that same year Michelle Sikes ran a 4:46.17 to take the Club record that still stands. But Allie hasn't lost much speed in the last 8 years, and she is now a Masters runner. Allie finished her mile in 5:00.51, smashing Carly Shea's record by just over half a minute! And Allie was disappointed because she was hoping to go under 5! Don't miss her next meet!

The next race in this year's Indoor Mile Series will be Friday, January 30 at 3 PM. Sharpen up your spikes and come out to the track!
