Region Youth Cross Country Runs
The second Youth Cross Country races of the season were held at the
State College Area High School
Cross Country Course. The weather was hazy and the grass was long and
wet from the morning fog.
Attendance was a little light because quite a few kids were running
with their parents in the College
Avenue Mile, a big event downtown to benefit the State Theater.
In the first
race, a 2K, YXC regular Katya Borisov won again in 10:29. The race was
a little closer this time as
Katya had Renee Olivett close on her tail. The first boy, Jack
Etter, finished third overall in 11:03. Jack's
older brother Robby had to leave early and couldn't run the 3K
appropriate to his age group. He nonetheless
wanted to run, so he paced the youngsters through the course finishing
in an unofficial but impressive time off
10:26.

In the 3K, Nikita Fedkin took first overall and in the 9-10 age group in 14:21. Second was Allison Scott
in 14:35, and third
was Sean King. There were only two runners in the 11-12 age group.
Peter Lin took
first in 14:41, followed by Ben Crowe.
