Centre Region Youth Cross Country Runs
The first Youth Cross Country races of the season were held at the PSU Cross Country Course
in conjunction with the Spiked Shoe Invitational. The weather was drab and misty and the turf was
wet, but the youngsters had it better than the High School and Collegiate runners who competed
later in intermittent heavy showers.
Due to a malfunction in the timing equipment, the times for the 2K race are not available. We have
the order of finish. The winner, Katya Borisov, led from start to finish and was a picture of pure
determination. She finished in a bit over 11 minutes. The next runner was close to 12 minutes.
Age 8 and Under (2 kilometer, 1.2 miles)
The 3K race with the 9-10 and 11-12 age groups was great to watch. There were a couple of
real footraces near the end. Cory Hilliard edged Andrew Lanagan for first place. Nate Davis was
lead at the halfway point, but his 9 year old legs were not ready to take on the two ten year olds
who finished ahead of him. Kostik Borisov, whose younger sister won the first race, and Jason
Doll rounded out the group who finished under 16 minutes. Kelleen Lanagan was the first girl
across the finish line. The 11-12 year bracket was a bit thin, and slower than the 9-10!
