Our Lady of Victory Summerfest Mile and Half-Mile: June 3,

The Summerfest Mile is back after a year's hiatus. A nice crowd turned
out on a cool gray morning. Forty runners competed in the downhill
mile. Speedster Nate Harkins turned in one of the top Summerfest
performances
ever, touring the course in 4:28 despite a twitching hamstring. Evan
Griffin, a State High runner was second in 5:13, and Todd Cousins was
third with the top Masters time of 5:17. Meira Minard was first among
the ladies in 5:28, followed by Monica Henderson in 5:59 and Liz Novack
in 6:05. Jerry Steffy brought a few of his Tuesday Evening Beginner's
Crew and all ran quite well, with Dave DeGroote charging through in
6:06. The only disappointment among all participants was Marty Mazur,
who for the first time
ever on the Summerfest course failed to break 6 minutes, despite (or
perhaps because of) going out his first quarter in 72 seconds.
A small group of youngsters competed in the Kids Half-Mile. Ivan Pavlov
was first in 2:51, followed closely by Natasha Fedkin in 2:54. Natasha
is four years younger than the winner. Not bad!
