About 50 runners braved a cold, wet morning for the 2nd annual FaithCentre 5K. Temperatures were in the 30s with a drizzle at the start, changing over to a steady rain. Luckily, the precipitation did not change to snow until much later in the day, and the course stayed ice-free - though there was a small water hazard thanks to all the recent rainfall.

The course, revised this year to do away with last year's repeat loops, took runners on a hilly tour of residential neighborhoods near the Bellefonte Middle School. The Bellefonte Road Raiders, who started doing group runs from the school one year ago last March, were prepared and came away with several age group awards.

David Rasmussen led the field. followed by masters runners Terry Reid and Tim Spigelmeyer. In the women's division, Cheryl Capone was first, besting her second place performance from last year. Tara Murray, third in 2007, took second place this year, and Christine Rodgers rounded out the top three. (Meira Minard, who won the women's race in 2007, did not run this year.)
