Minutes
of October 2, 2007 NVRC Meeting.
The
regular meeting of the Nittany Valley Running Club was held on Tuesday,
October 2, at the HiWay Pizza on Westerly Parkway. In attendance
were Dave Eggler, Mike and Evan Casper, Bob and Christine
Rice, Costas
Maranas and his friend Michelle, Kim Gasper, Jerry Steffy, Pam Smith,
Dave DeGroote, Ron Saluga, Denise Weaver, Kim Daniels, Tara Murray, and
Jamie Volkert.
There were two big news items at this meeting. First, HiWay has
green olives again! Why they would ever get rid of this from the menu
is beyond me. It's not like they go bad! So, for the first time in
maybe over a year, we had the NVRC special among our pizzas: a cheese,
pepperoni, green olives and onion pizza! Ah! Just like the good old
days! All they have to do is bring back Sierra Nevada Pale Ale!
The second bit of news is that we did not spend much time on business!
Marty Mazur talked, perhaps too long (about 10 minutes) about Club
happenings, including the just-completed mOUnTaiNBACK and the upcoming
Knights 5K, Half-Marathon, and First Night 5K. Then he shut up and let
Mike Casper talk for a few minutes about this year's immensely
succsessful mOUnTaiNBACK. Then Jerry showed up and mentioned that the
Mid-Michigan Track Club is challenging the NVRC to a mail-in 5K. The
way this works is their Club and our Club will each have members run a
local 5K on November 10. We'll compare times: our top 4 men and top 3
women against theirs. Cross-country scoring will apply. Our
local race will be the 4th Annual State College Health America Jingle
Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis. Sign up!
Most of the meeting was then spent in socializing. Ah! Just like the
good old days!
Next
Meeting: December 4.
