August 29 Workout: Crazy Pyramid.

We had 15 runners tonight at the High school track. We did a ladder 200 - 400 - 600 -  400 - 200 of two person relay's. The workout was for speed and we did well with 7 teams. We all got our mile and eight done in under 19:00 Min's. We had two new runners with us and they did great. Just a reminder: we have 6 weeks til the "Knights of Columbus run" on Oct 15 in State College. We are looking forward to running this race it is for beginner and new runners. Marty has set up a date to run the course with us on Sept. 19. We will meet that date at the Knights of Columbus hall.

We will be doing a run of about 5 miles.

August 8 Workout: Plyometric Butt Pain!

We had five new people tonight doing Trains or Indians for twenty minutes. Then did some plyometics. We are also having four or five people running Saturday Morning at the Lap-a-Thon for the State College high School Cross Country Team. The runners had a great time last night and are looking forward to next Tuesday night's workout with Steve and Vicki running the workout because the old man is having some work done on his Age. We are still looking to have more fun and more people becoming part of our group.

August 15 Workout: The Mother of All Hills!

We didn't have anyone new today, but I did get a sign in. We had at least 12 people show up for the workout. We started at the parking lot at Spring Creek Park, and ran over the bridge and out to the bike path and followed it all the way to Slab Cabin Park, somewhere around 1.25 to 1.5 miles they figured. We carried a water bottle in each hand. When we arrived at Slab Cabin, we dumped the water bottles into Steve's jeep, then went over to the gargantuan mother of all hills (I'm a fan of power hill workouts). I believe everyone managed to get in 4 sprints up the hill, some of us did 5, but they were all allowed to go up as far as they could handle. When we finished, we ran back to the park (minus the water bottles). We opted not to do the cryogenics or plyogenics or plyometrics, or whatever you call them. hehehe. I figured the burn in our thighs and buttocks would be enough to cover the plyos effect, hope you'll forgive us! ! The path was beautiful, thanks to Jessica for the suggestion!!  Everyone did a great job!!  Thanks to Steve for his help and the water bottle donations!!

Global Warming?

Summertime Report From Jerry Steffy's Old Running Club in Michigan

August 3, 2006.

Last Tuesday was the hottest night of any MMTC workout.  Some of the runners there argued that it was just a spike in weather phenomna.  Others argued it was global warming. Well, here is proof that it is, indeed, global warming.

See below......for the broad minded
