Minutes of the April 4th 2018 Meeting of the NVRC

The officers discussed the proposed routes for the Arts Fest races. There will only be 2 races, 5K starting at 8:00 am and the10K starting at 8:15 am. The kids race will start at 9:30 am. This year, there will not be a 10 miler.
Josh Cone presented to the officers a request to look into purchasing an entry level new timing system, RFID. This request would be for smaller races with no more than 50/75 runners. Josh will send all the details of the proposal to David Eggler . The officers will look into the proposal.
Marty Mazur spoke about up coming races. The Egg Hill race which is the 15th Annual NVRC 10 mile race and relays, will be held on April 15th with a start time of 2:30 pm at the Old Gregg School. The race benefits the Penns Valley track and cross country programs. Kim Gasper spoke about the Red Raider Rally Race in Bellefonte, Saturday May 19th. This will be an out and back near the CVS. There will be a quarter mile (Kindergarten and younger), half mile (start times will be different for grades 1 and 2, and for grades 3 and 4) and a mile (girls 6 grade and younger, boys 8th grade and younger). Liz Kisenwether spoke about the 2nd Annual Fibonacci cross country 5K , relay and a fun run. In addition to the 5K, there will be a 2.5K relay and a 1K fun run for children under the age of 8. The NVRC has switched from Yahoo groups list serve to Google groups list serve. Please be sure to log onto Google groups and search for the Nittany Valley Running Club to sign-up and be abreast of everything that is going on with the club via email.
Marty also announced there is some discussion with Mike Casper, the race director for the Tussey mOUnTaiNBACK that there will be something new with the course. Hold onto your breeches…the course will be going in reverse. Yes, we did say this, backwards. The Tussey Teasers are set up for the original course as of right now. Tune in to get more details and when the new map of the course will be unveiled.
Lastly, the club is looking into a location for the BBQ for the club and family members this August. Once the location is reserved you’ll be the first to know.
