The officers discussed that Penn State has 4 approved races on campus with a cap on the number of runners. One race is capped at 225 and the other 3 are capped at 100 runners. The Arts Festival race has not been approved by Penn State, the rental fee for the Spikes stadium has increased from 2017 to 2018, the club is looking into other venues for the race. David Eggler will be having a meeting with Rick Bryant, the Executive Director for the Arts Festival to see how we may get approval for the races. There was some discussion of moving the races off of campus and creating a new course. If the club doesn’t get approval soon, this year’s Arts Festival races may have to go into hibernation for the year.

Jodi Butler, the race director for the Egg Hill race, spoke about this year’s race. The 15th Annual NVRC 10 mile race and relays, will be held on April 15th with a start time of 2:30 pm at the Old Gregg School. The race benefits the Penns Valley track and cross country programs.

Liz Kisenwether gave out flyers for the 2nd Annual Fibonacci cross country 5K , relay and a fun run. There were 60 runners at last year’s first race, so they are looking forward to getting more runners this year. The race is the same day as Rothrock, Saturday June 9th 2018, but you’ll have plenty of time to get to Boalsburg for the 9:30 am start time. In addition to the 5K, there will be a 2.5K relay and a 1K fun run for children under the age of 8. This race supports hands-on STEM experiences for kids and to spark creativity and imagination. Tara Murray spoke about Marathon 4 Medicine (M4M) team. If you are running a longish race this spring, please consider joining the team. M4M raise funds for Centre Volunteers in Medicine (CVIM), a local organization that provides free and/or discounted medical and dental care to our neighbors in Centre County who lack health insurance. The need is great, and there is no better time to combine your love for running with an opportunity to enable more of our neighbors to live healthier lives. They request that you dedicate your race to CVIM, and then ask your family and friends to support you by making a donation to CVIM. You are not required to raise a minimum dollar amount -- every dollar counts, and every dollar you raise goes directly to providing services at CVIM.
