IF I COULD CHOOSE MY OWN NICKNAME OR EPITAPH: My dad's name is Tom,
so my friends in grade school started calling me TC after the Top Cat
cartoon,
which was later shortened to just T. When I head back to Dunmore nobody
calls me Tom.
I STARTED RUNNING (WHEN, WHERE, HOW...):Joined my high school cross
country team back in 1968 PW (pre Woodstock). Ran cc and track all four
years, making it to the cc states junior and senior years. After
several
years of not running, entered a race in 1978 and ran and raced for a
few
years. Stopped again until I moved to State College in 1990. Been on
the
go ever since. Thanks to Dave Eggler, I ran my first marathon in 1995,
and I'm about to run my 8th at Steamtown in Oct.
AVERAGE MILES PER WEEK:35 (50+ if I'm marathon training)
A TYPICAL TRAINING WEEK:Uptempo 6 mi on Mon, 6 on Tues & Wed, track
on Thurs, 8 on Fri, Sat off, 12 to 25 on Sun (ramp up to marathon
distance
PREFERRED RACE OR RACING DISTANCE:Marathon or 5k (strange, huh)
