NICKNAME (AND WHY): Rob (isn’t that creative, now)
IF I COULD WRITE MY OWN EPITAPH: He finished the last book on his
bookshelf and wore out his last pair of running shoes.
I STARTED RUNNING (WHEN, WHERE, HOW...): On a cold rainy day in
Seattle, training for the Seattle Marathon. Actually I began
running 5k’s out of HS but decided one year that I was going to start
running longer races. A few years running the Ski-to-Sea relay in
Bellingham WA and soon I was ready for the big kahuna.
AVERAGE MILES PER WEEK: 18
A TYPICAL TRAINING WEEK: 3 days of 3 miles; then long run on weekend
PREFERRED RACE OR RACING DISTANCE: half-marathon
NUMBER OF RACES PER YEAR: 1-3
A GOOD 10K TIME FOR ME WOULD BE:
WHY I RUN: It keeps me sane and healthy, allows me to enjoy the view
PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO LEARN THAT: I have worked in the
military, for a labor union, and now teach… and this is only the
beginning.
