NAME: Mr. Paige Andrew
EMAIL ADDRESS: pga@psulias.psu.edu

BIRTH DATE: 1958

HOMETOWN (ORIGINALLY): Seattle, Wash.
WHERE I LIVE NOW: Lemont, Pa.
WHAT I DO IN LIFE AS WE KNOW IT: librarian.  Actually, my specialty is as a maps cataloger;  someone who creates bibliographic records  that go into the online catalog so people can   find what they are looking for...
NON-RUNNING HOBBIES OR INTERESTS:: numismatists  (thats coin-collecting), reading naturally,  gardening/yard maintenance, baseball, helping   my kids grow up!
A FAVORITE BOOK, MOVIE, TV OR RADIO SHOW: none  really, i don't watch much TV and don't have  much time for "fun" reading. Most reading is   the newspaper every day and National   Geographic Magazine, I favor non-fiction.
IF I COULD PICK MY OWN NICKNAME: hmmmm,  I'll stick with my best friend's nickname for me, which is Pedro
I STARTED RUNNING (WHEN, WHERE, HOW...): in 1985  while in grad school (Univ. of Washington). Got   asked to be a "backup" on a relay team for an  upcoming race (didn't get to actually run in the race!), accepted, went to a local 1/4 mile track  at an elementary school three times a week for  a month and got hooked! By the way, the first  couple of times I ran that 1/4 mile I nearly  tossed my cookies and thought I was going to  die!
AVERAGE MILES PER WEEK: 10-12
A TYPICAL TRAINING WEEK: lunchbreak run on  campus or a 6:00 a.m. run through Lemont  and Slab Cabin Run Park
PREFERRED RACE OR RACING DISTANCE: 5k, but do  like to do 2-3 10k's per year. My favorite race  that I've participated in over the years is the  Peachtree 10k (7 times), something really fun  about running with 50,000 people!
NUMBER OF RACES PER YEAR: in Georgia it was 12-15 until my second son was born, now its  4-5
A GOOD 10K TIME FOR ME WOULD BE: 55 minutes
WHY I RUN: stress release, mental recharge,   keep my weight even (though it continues to creep up every couple of years, darn it!),  enjoy running in races 'cause its another   "family" in my life!
