Penn State administration. Married with three kids.
NON-RUNNING HOBBIES OR INTERESTS: Reading, music, kids' sports, laundry,
Saturday afternoon naps, missing the ocean.
A FAVORITE BOOK, MOVIE, TV OR RADIO SHOW: Any of the weekend NPR shows.

I STARTED RUNNING (WHEN, WHERE, HOW...): 1968; high school cross-country;
slowly
AVERAGE MILES PER WEEK: 25
A TYPICAL TRAINING WEEK: 5 days. Mostly with Rec Hall geezer group
at noon; one "speed" day each week. A little longer (6-8 miles) on
Saturday or Sunday.
PREFERRED RACE OR RACING DISTANCE: 1 mile to 5K.
NUMBER OF RACES PER YEAR: none so far this year (except for all-comers'
track meets); usually 3-4
A GOOD 10K TIME FOR ME WOULD BE: 42 minutes.
WHY I RUN: Probably the social factor as much as anything. Plus
you can spit and appear in public without a shirt.
PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO LEARN THAT:
a. My wife's mother is Kazuko "Kay" Maury. She's a local institution:
the seamstress at Balfurd's since 1953.
b. I own a pair of spikes.
