WHAT I DO IN LIFE AS WE KNOW IT: Married, 4 boys with a 5th boy on the way.  To earn my keep I do computer related stuff in research administration at Penn State.
NON-RUNNING HOBBIES OR INTERESTS: Reading, hiking.
A FAVORITE BOOK, MOVIE, TV OR RADIO SHOW: Favorite movies:  Zulu, Henry V, Breaker Morant, Twelve O'Clock High, the Hornblower series.  Favorite authors: G.K. Chesterton, Winston Churchill, Michael O'Brien, William Faulkner, Steinbeck.
IF I COULD CHOOSE MY OWN NICKNAME OR EPITAPH: He never intended any harm
I STARTED RUNNING (WHEN, WHERE, HOW...): Started in track and field in junior high school (100 yd high hurdles, discus), rowed competitively in college and five years beyond with some running for cross training
(including one marathon and one ultra), continued running (on and off) ever since.
AVERAGE MILES PER WEEK: 30 - 50 miles plus an hour or two of cross training on a rowing machine
A TYPICAL TRAINING WEEK: One day at the track (Thursdays), one long run on the weekend (now at 7:30 PM on Sunday) and 4 to 7 miles daily.
PREFERRED RACE OR RACING DISTANCE: Marathon
NUMBER OF RACES PER YEAR: 2 to 4
A GOOD 10K TIME FOR ME WOULD BE: (just) sub 40 minutes
WHY I RUN: Because those darn black helicopters keep chasing me ... plus it keeps me fit enough to keep up with my kids
