NAME: Janet L. Jonson
E-MAIL ADDRESS:  jlj6@psu.edu

BIRTH-DATE:  July 4, 1963

HOMETOWN (ORIGINALLY):  Drifting, PA
WHERE I LIVE NOW:  State College, PA
WHAT I DO IN LIFE AS WE KNOW IT:  I'm an Assistant Research Engineer at the Applied Research Lab.  Currently I work in the area of information systems relating to business process re-engineering and hand-held electronics for collecting and sending information.
NON-RUNNING HOBBIES OR INTERESTS:   I love to read books and magazines on houses, aerobics, and am presently learing more about gardening.  I enjoy being around my friends especially the ones that I have made through running and aerobics.
A FAVORITE BOOK, MOVIE, TV OR RADIO SHOW:  Seinfeld, Ally McBeal, currently I'm hooked on the Young and the Restless.  One of the best movies I have seen was "Life is Beautiful".
IF I COULD CHOOSE MY OWN NICKNAME OR EPITAPH:  FAST
I STARTED RUNNING (WHEN, WHERE, HOW...):  I started running in 1990 and only ran during the Spring and Fall time (a fair weather runner) for the first few years.  I started running with some of the people at the club where I taught aerobics in State College.  I love running now and do it all year long.
AVERAGE MILES PER WEEK:  20 - 25 miles
A TYPICAL TRAINING WEEK:  20 miles
PREFERRED RACE OR RACING DISTANCE:  10K
NUMBER OF RACES PER YEAR:  2 or 3 per year
A GOOD 10K TIME FOR ME WOULD BE:  I just did 7:31 minute miles for the 1999 Art's Fest race.  This is a good time for me but I still would like to try to get this down.
WHY I RUN:  The health benefits mostly but I enjoy being outside and I am able to think through a lot of things when I run.  I like to run because I can do it almost any where especially when I travel.
PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO LEARN THAT:  I had knee surgery last year due to a fall that occurred while I was running.  My knee is still  not 100%  but this has not made me want to stop running. If anything, it has made me appreciate the ability to run even more.
