NAME: Tim Aydin
E-MAIL ADDRESS:  taa147@psu.edu

BIRTH-DATE:  March 29, 1984
HOMETOWN (ORIGINALLY):  Well, if by “originally” you mean where I was born then the answer is Columbus, OH
WHERE I LIVE NOW:  State College (since I was a year old)
WHAT I DO IN LIFE AS WE KNOW IT:  5th year senior at PSU.  Otherwise known as the “State College High School Plan.”
NON-RUNNING HOBBIES OR INTERESTS:  Playing guitar, listening to music, sports in general (esp. basketball and football), old-school Nintendo (I’ll take you down in Marble Madness)
A FAVORITE BOOK, MOVIE, TV OR RADIO SHOW:  TV - Daily Show/Colbert Report, VH1’s “I Love…” Series,  Book – Running With The Buffaloes
NICKNAME (AND WHY):  I’ve never really had a consistent nickname in my life. However, one person on my high school XC team used to call me “Tempo Timmy” because I had a natural tendency to suddenly start pushing the pace on easier runs.
IF I COULD WRITE MY OWN EPITAPH:  “Maybe in the next life, I’ll win Arts Fest.”
I STARTED RUNNING (WHEN, WHERE, HOW...): Summer before 10th grade, I realized I wasn’t involved in any extracurricular activities at my school and the idea of getting into good physical shape seemed intriguing.  Any sport involving a ball was out of question, so I ended up walking on to the XC team.  I can probably count on one hand the number of times I ran that summer so that season was torture for me.  However, I realized that I was cut out for this sport when I improved my 5k time from 24 minutes to mid-19’s from the beginning to the end of the season and won the “Most Improved Runner” award at the team banquet that year.
AVERAGE MILES PER WEEK:  30-35
A TYPICAL TRAINING WEEK:  5 days a week with one long run (10+ miles) and one tempo/track workout thrown in
PREFERRED RACE OR RACING DISTANCE: 5k-10k
NUMBER OF RACES PER YEAR:  Really, it varies but at this point I would say I do about 4-5 a year
A GOOD 10K TIME FOR ME WOULD BE: sub-37
WHY I RUN:  It’s the one sport where I can mask my klutziness (is that a word?), it also gives me an excuse to pig out on food afterwards.
PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO LEARN THAT:  Even though I am predominantly right-handed, I am a lefty when it comes to shooting pool and opening bottlecaps.
