Notable hills:
The
5K course has some gentle challenges. There is a nice quarter-mile

long, gently rolling climb from the intersection of Porter and Hastings
to the top of the hill at the intersection of Shortlidge Rd and Curtin
Rd. A climb of 120 ft over 1.3 miles.
The 10K is a little more gentle at the beginning, but has a steep hill
near Mile 4. The ealry climb is about 110 ft over 1.2 miles from Porter
and Hastings to Burrowes near Old Main. Then, after a downhill sprint
on the south Golf Course path, there is a steep climb on the north side
of about 90 ft in less than half a mile.

| Remarks: |
The
Art's Festival 10K course has moved frequently over over the years due
to the continual on-campus construction boom. For 2007, we moved the
starting line to the east side of campus to be close to one of
our sponsoring organization, the State College Spikes. The Spikes'
home, Medlar Field, will be the site of the Arts Fest Kids Races. In
2008, the course was adjusted so that the finish lines would be on
Curtin Rd. on the west side of University Dr. in order to lessen
traffic tie-ups on University Dr.
